The summit of Ben More

The summit of Ben More

The summit of Ben More, whose bulk dominates Glen Dochart, is just over 4 miles away. Many more 'Munros' (Scottish hills over 3000ft) are within easy reach of the Hotel including Ben Lawers and the Lawers Massif. This group of seven Munros, is a National Nature Reserve because of the unique range of arctic-alpine plants. Other Munros within a ten mile radius include Cruach Ardrain, Ben Lui, Ben Oss, Ben Vorlich and Stuc a Chroin. But if you don't care for the uphill slog, there are also plenty of low-level scenic walks on offer, both locally and throughout Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The area is rich in bird life including majestic birds of prey and red deer can frequently be seen. In the forests you may spot red squirrels, and if you are very lucky, a pine marten... Attractions and places to visit: The Luib Hotel is an ideal base for touring or for small excursions to particular attractions. It lies within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, specifically the Breadalbane (Gaelic for 'the high country') part of the Park where the landscape becomes a series of dramatic peaks accented by picturesque glens. In Glen Dochart, where the Luib Hotel is situated, the River Dochart wends its way to Killin and then into Loch Tay. On either side of the Glen are the mountains of Breadalbane on one hand and the Ben More group on the other. While the mountains might thrill the soul of dedicated walkers and climbers, less arduous pleasures that can be enjoyed by everyone are also on offer.

Scotland offers some of the best trout and salmon fishing in the world and the Luib Hotel, with its easy access to superb fishing in nearby streams and lochs, is the perfect spot for a fishing holiday. The Hotel has its own stretch of the famous River Dochart just behind the hotel. Venturing a little further afield, boats can be hired in nearby lochs such as Loch Tay and Loch Earn.
